National Entrepreneurship Month: A Reason to Celebrate

Think all entrepreneurs are whiz-kid tech titans or eccentric inventors? Great Scott! Think again. In fact, there’s no definitive profile of an American entrepreneur. Startup founders span all age groups and their businesses cover nearly all industries.

The United States is home to tens of millions of entrepreneurs. There’s a good chance that you have friends or family members who own their own businesses. You may even be a business owner yourself.

A Nation of Entrepreneurs

November is National Entrepreneurship Month, which celebrates our business leaders who innovate, create jobs and opportunities for millions of Americans, and help shape the direction of our country. This month was made official in 2011 and has been continued every year since.

Entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in our country's history, thanks to our innovative spirit and cultural diversity, among many other factors. There’s no doubt that 2020 has been difficult, but America’s business leaders are stepping up to meet these challenges head on. New business applications are up nearly 40%, small business owner optimism is high, and the United States remains one of the world’s strongest markets for entrepreneurship.

Supporting our entrepreneurs and small business owners has never been more important. Americans have answered the call, with a majority of consumers eager to increase spending at small businesses during the pandemic.

It should come as no surprise that people are extra keen on supporting small, local businesses this year. Most consumers prefer these businesses to begin with, and a greater portion of money spent locally stays local, on average. The challenges of 2020 have made this even more important to consumers, many of whom have cited supporting their communities as their main reason for shopping local this year.

Supporting Small Business Entrepreneurship

As a funding solutions provider, we are very familiar with small businesses and their place as the backbone of our economy. There are many great ways to celebrate and promote entrepreneurship. This year, we have further engaged with the entrepreneur community through our relationship with Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Titus Center for Franchising. We are excited for our CEO, Geoff Seiber, to contribute to their new franchise entrepreneurship web series, Franchise Hot Seat. This series gives rising franchisors the opportunity to seek mentorship, advice, or financial support from established leaders in the franchise community. We welcome you to subscribe, and to stay tuned for Geoff’s appearance on the Hot Seat panel in December.

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, or even a current entrepreneur considering expansion, we’d love to connect with you. Our educational funding webinars allow current and potential business owners to learn about funding strategies in a casual setting.

To register for our next complimentary webinar, sign up here. If you’re unable to make it, feel free to register and we’ll send you the on-demand video afterward. We look forward to meeting you!
